Hailing from Perth Australia, Sharon Davis is a dancer and instructor in performance artforms of the jazz era. By day a swing dancer, she specialises in Lindy Hop and other vintage jazz dances including 1920s Charleston, Vernacular Jazz, Cakewalk, Blackbottom, Breakaway, Balboa, Big Apple and Blues. With her dance partner Juan Villafane of Argentina, Sharon is using dance as an excuse to travel the globe.
By night, she's a booty-shaking burlesque Queen of Tease, known on stage by the ludicrous burlesque pseudonym, Miss Bonnie Fox. Sharon (or Bonnie) performs and teaches the fine art of classic burlesque in Australia and everywhere else. Have feather fans, will travel. Sharon is co-founder of Australian burlesque company, Sugar Blue Burlesque.
Sharon might also be found in the DJ booth, specialising in swinging jazz and blues for dancers. She spins a variety of styles from the 1920s to the current day, with a particular love of early hot jazz and 1930s big bands, and a penchant for rhythm guitar, growl trumpet, handclapping and band members shouting things in the background.
Sharon is also a graphic designer, and you can see samples of her work in a retro style on the Portfolio page. Contact her by emailing me@sharondavis.com.au.
